As a snowboard and outdoor addict, living in Tyrol, I love to spend all seasons of the year in the mountains, but of course my favorite is winter.

Describing the anticipation for winter to non addicts is almost impossible, I would simply say that the first snowfall is like Christmas to children.

This feeling, when the leaves turn yellow and you spend the last days of the golden autumn biking… but you also have in mind that winter season is just around the corner.

That means me and my squad already start snowboarding and practicing at the nearby glaciers in Tyrol. It’s a lot of fun to ride down the slopes, meet all the people up there you did not see in summer and will probably not meet again during the winter season, because it’s the glaciers are the only places where you can go snowboarding from October until December. Kind of a glacier mayhem for all the freaks...

BUT somewhen, after studying all the weather forecasts, all training and preparation days, the big day comes. You wake up early, pull away the curtains and you barely can’t watch out of the window, because it’s all white.

That’s the day you probably forget to have breakfast, run into your fitting room and call all your friends for a ride. You jump into your Merino Baselayer, get the avalanche kit packed, boots helmet and google zipped to the backpack, sneakers on and then run to the car. Snow is knee high and you really don’t care about the already wet sneakers.

30 minutes later you arrive at the chairlift station, highly motivated and ready to ride!

I hope Christmas will come early to me this year, stay safe and earn your turn.
